"Marooned" (1969), here presented on Mystery Science Theater 3000 under it’s public domain title, "Space Travelers" is deceptively unique. Yes, it is the only film to air on MST3K to win an Oscar (Robie Robinson won over "Krakatoa, East of Java" for Best Effects/Special Visual Effects), was nominated for two other technical awards, and it has a cast recognizable to even the mildest of film fans: Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna, David Janssen, James Franciscus, Gene Hackman, Lee Grant, Nancy Kovack and Mariette Hartley. It even has big name director John Sturges ("Bad Day at Black Rock", "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral", "Last Train from Gun Hill", "The Magnificent Seven", "The Great Escape", "Ice Station Zebra" and "The Eagle Has Landed")…the thing is, none of this makes the film any less excruciating than the average MST3K-fodder.

Ever see Apollo 13? Essentially the same film, but even less compelling.
