Popeye and Olive pass a gym where an attractive woman is demonstrating boxing equipment. Popeye gets Olive to come in, where he teaches her to box. She has trouble at first, but when the pretty girl comes on to Popeye, she’s inspired. They fight over Popeye.
A devoted mother sells herself by night on the streets of Shanghai in order to support herself and her infant son. When a gambler who calls himself “the Boss” strong-arms his way into becoming her pimp, she flees with her son and attempts to earn an honest living, but the Boss tracks her down and forces her back into prostitution. When her son reaches school age, she begins hiding away enough money to pay his tuition. Although her son is ostracized by other kids due to her profession, she takes great joy in providing an education and a potential better future for him.
Five astronauts travel to the dark side of the moon on a scientific expedition. There they discover a cave which somehow retains a breathable atmosphere. They remove their space suits and venture on, soon finding a buried city where the last members of a 2 million year old civilization greet them with food and drink. Little do they know that these eight lovely leotard-clad women are planning to steal their ship.

The movie is based on the short story “Love Lies Bleeding” by playwright John Patrick, using the pseudonym Jack Patrick, and was produced by Hal B. Wallis. The screenplay was written by Robert Rossen and Robert Riskin, who was not credited, and was directed by Lewis Milestone. The film was entered into the 1947 Cannes Film Festival.[1]
